Crafts N' Things Hobbies & Games
Just south of town is a little known shop, one most of you might not have heard of: Crafts N' Things Hobbies & Games. I know I did not know about it for a long time. It is small and somewhat out of the way, but that adds to its presence and flavour.
The vast collection of action figures, models, cards and miniatures, not to mention the colossal collection of comic books, as well as a mighty amount of t-shirts, craft and hobby supplies, will please almost anyone’s niche. However it is not the store that makes this place stand out; it is the owners, Tammy and James Federico, who make the small store a home to gamers and nerds of many varieties.
There is more to this place then just a store; it is a place of imagination and creativity, a place to escape from some of the more mundane parts of life, a place where one can become something more.
Explore more of Tammy and James' store after the jump...
At Friday Night Magic, people come from all over town to become Wizards of all calibers – from fire slinging, goblin throwing (yes, goblin throwing) Red Wizards; to the dark, sinister, masters-of-death Black Wizards; to the mighty and terrifying beast masters, Green Wizards; to the cool and calculated masters of thought, Blue Wizards; and the noble, righteous, White Wizards. Here any one can explore their imagination and become wizards with the help of Magic the Gathering, by Wizards of the Coast.
And they hold many more events other than Friday Night Magic. Currently Crafts N' Things are holding two ongoing escalation-style tournaments – one for Warhammer Fantasy, and the other for the Warhammer 40 000, both a product of Games Workshop. These are perfect for getting people into the game and building strong tournament list.
With the expertise of Tammy and James you can become a mighty marshal fielding a great Fantasy army: ranging from the Orks and Goblins to the Empire, from Ogres to High Elves, Dark Elves to the Mighty Knights of Bretonnia. Warhammer Fantasy – with its focus on magic, knights and dragons – is a great way to live out some of fantasy's greatest books and movies.
Warhammer 40 000, on the other hand, is set in our universe's 410st century. Man came to dominate the galaxy through use of technology that is now lost. It has become a long and bitter war to see if man can hold on against the onslaught of alien races that assault them from all sides, as well as their twisted brethren, the forces of Chaos.
Here Generals can choose from a vast array of armies: the many chapters of powerful space marines; or from the alien races such as Eldar, the space elves; or Tyranids, the plague of the universe; or many others. Here the powers of the warp, big guns, giant creatures, tanks, and squads of men and women vie for control of the galaxy.
What makes Craft N' Things so great, more than any game or event, is Tammy and James. They take a store and transform it into a place where people can go to have a fun time, and to escape some of the more mundane parts of life. In many ways Tammy and James have made a second home for many residents of town.
No matter how old or young, no matter your career or lifestyle, if you have a little imagination you can have a fun time at Crafts N Things Hobbies and Games – located at 21 James Bay Junction Road, just minutes south of town.
